More scrapbook pages

This layout was an art inspiration. These are photos from Leslie's surprise 50th birthday party back in October. I'm doing well when I get photos scrapped less than a year after they were taken.

This is Imaginesce paper and another variety of embellishments. I used Scenic Route, Doodlebug, and Jolee's along with yellow thickers. This was a sketch challenge at Inspired Blueprints.
This layout was a challenge to use KI sheers. I also used Colorbok paper flowers behind the sheer, thickers, American Craft chipboard, and Jillibeans journaling spots.

Scrapbooking

Wow! It has been forever since I scrapbooked. But this weekend, in honor of National Scrapbooking Day, I finished several pages. I was participating in an on-line crop at Lifetime Moments.

The first page of this layout met the challenge to use 3 fonts/products in the title.
The second page met the challenge to use journaling cards for something other than journaling.
Most of the paper products on these pages are by K&Co. The cute bird and bird house stamps are by Unity.

This one used song lyrics. You may recognize the song as the first one on my blog playlist. I couldn't believe it was one of the choices for this challenge, since it is one of my favorites. It Today was Your Last Day. I didn't use the title but I chose some of the lyrics that went espcially well with these photos of my daughter living life to the fullest.

Patterned paper, title and die cut are Cosmo Cricket. The other embellishments were culled from a variety of sources. There is K&Co, Creative Imaginations, Me and My Big Ideas, EK Success, and Darice.

One more for tonight

Out of the stack of mostly finished cards that I started last weekend, I did get one other done tonight. This one used the sketch at Prairie Paper and Ink. More paper from the mat pad I bought for Megan's baby card. Its by Die Cuts with a View. The image is Suzy's Zoo and the Sentiment is Papertrey Ink. Its from a gift sent you get when you buy a certain number of sets. While I haven't been familiar with Papertrey Ink that long, my friend Laurie, is a long time fan and ended up with 3 of these sets last year. She very kindly gave one to me, as well as Leslie. Thanks again Laurie!

Unity Challenge

This is the card I did for today's Unity challenge. Unity turns 1 year old on Monday so one of the challenges at HipHOp today was to make an almost birthday card using a non traditional image. I thought this would make a cute card for a child or teen. The whale was stamped and sent to me and the sentiment is from the April kit of the month. 'Because of the challenge at Lifetime Moments, I have been trying to use journaling spots on my cards. Both of the circles are Heidi Swapp journaling spots. I also used my new Fiskars border punch.

Friday Sketchers Challenge

This is one of the baby cards I started last weekend. I colored a whole bunch of images and then started putting together several cards. I finally finished a couple of them tonight. This one used the Friday Sketchers sketch from this week.

Another Tilda

While I was motivated to do some coloring, I inked up the other Tilda I own and used her for the challenge at Magnolia vs Stampavie. It was another sketch challenge. I had to move some of the elements around to get them to fit on my rectangular card. I experimented with something I had read about somewhere in the blog world. I only had the one red, so I colored onto my blender pen with it. It worked pretty well, but got very wet and bled a little. I'll need to keep practicing with that. I put paper glaze over the raindrops and her boots. The sentiment is from My Favorite Things. The brads are by Queen and Company. That's all the stamping for today. Tomorrow is the last day of spring break, so there's a lot to get done. Still, I'm hoping to sneak some more time in the scrap room.

My First Magnolia

I finally took the plunge and colored my first Tilda. I've had her for quite some time but hadn't taken the time to ink her up and work with my copics. I'm pretty happy with her. Her hair could be a little darker but the darkest gray I have is a 7. This is for a sketch challenge on a new challenge blog site called Just Magnolia.

Monthly card night

Well, it wasn't actually either. In theory we meet monthly but it is usually more like every 2-3 months. And we didn't meet at night this time since I was off work. Anyway, Leslie and I drove to Laurie's house where we made 3 cards and had a late lunch. Our challenge this time was to use embossing on our cards.

This is the card Leslie designed.

This card was designed by Leslie's daughter Marissa. Laurie used it as her contribution since she hasn't been feeling very well lately.
And this is the one I designed. It is very similar to one I posted a couple of days ago.

Verve post

This card is for the Verve blog challenge. Here is the link to the store with contest details http://shopverve.com/index.html. I used April release sketch 3 and a Verve sentiment stamp that happens to come from one of my all time favorite poems. I had to memorize this poem in 7th grade and I still can recite it. I don't even want to do the math to know how many years ago that was. The set this stamp comes from is called Beautiful You and it has a bunch of unusual but very cool quotes. I used one of my new Nestabilities to cut the label. The butterfly (Martha Stewart) is punched from a glittery pink by DieCuts With a View. I used a cuttlebug embossing folder for the strip of pink. I think the flower is Marcella and the dp is Joanne's but can't be sure since I don't have the packaging anymore.

That's finally it for today. Tomorrow I have to prep my card for card making night with Laurie and Leslie. We're getting together Friday afternoon so I'm running out of time.

Fairy

Well, I finally got around to inking up my fairy stamps from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design. This card uses the sketch and color challenge on that site, as well as the fantasy challenge at Caardvarks and the color challenge at Cute Card Thursday.

Enjoying Break

I have really been relaxing and enjoying spring break. Monday I went to the library for some Pride and Prejudice related books and they had the 2005 DVD version of the story on the shelf. I was so excited that I watched all 5-6 hours of it that afternoon. Then, yesterday while I was working on some cards, I had it playing on my computer. That worked so well that I did the same again today. I'm really getting my $2 rental worth out of it.

Anyway, I have managed to get some cards made. I completed all 4 challenges for the new Verve release. Here are three of them.

This one is for the color challenge :soft blue, soft yellow, and soft brown. The stamps are Unity and the sketch is from Stamp TV.

This one uses sketch 3. The sentiment is Verve and the image is Stampendous. I used Nestabilities, copic markers,Daisy D paper, Doodlebug frills, and Stampin Up oval punches.

For this one, I used sketch VSAPR1. The paper is all scraps so I don't know the manufacturer. Stamps are by stampin up, My Mind's Eye and Papertrey Ink.

I've got a couple more to post tonight or tomorrow. We'll see how much more I can get done tonight.

Give Away

I'm back from Akron and trying to get caught up on e-mails, etc. Checking in with my favorite sites I found this stamp company I had never heard of before. They have really cute stuff and are giving away an Easter stamp set. http://creatingcupcakes.blogspot.com/2009/04/easter-stamp-set-giveaway.html I think this Easter set is adorable but they also have some really cute bird and owl sets. I think my favorite is the circus animals. Here is the site http://www.mycutestamps.com

Cards for work

I needed to get these done tonight so I could take them into work tomorrow. With spring break starting, I wanted to give people a chance to sign them. Secretary's Day is kind of sneaking up on me because it is the week we get back.

This one is for the Gina K stamp tv color challenge and Secret Crafter Saturday challenge to use stripes. I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday.

This card is for the Happy something challenge at Stamp Something. It also meets challenges from both weeks 1 and 2 on the Lifetime Moments site in the stamping thread.

Sunday card

Didn't get a whole lot done today. I cruised the aisles at Michael's and Dollar Tree looking to fill an Easter basket for my 19 year old daughter. She still insists the bunny hide her basket too. Nothing spoiled about her.

This card uses sketch 23 from Triple the Sketches and it meets the Whiff of Joy challenge to distress your card. I am still trying to get better at using my copic markers. I have trouble with bleeding. I think that means I'm over saturating the paper. I use good quality paper (Papertrey Ink) with them so that' s not the problem. I have learned a lot from different sites on-line and there are many people in the Magnolia-ious group that do gorgeous coloring. I guess I just need to keep studying and keep practicing.

Another challenge card

This uses the sketch 51 at Triple the Sketches. They are celebrating their first anniversary with a blog hop and some special RAKs.

This card used stamps by Elyzabell and Verve. Dp is K&Co. , ribbon is Autumn leaves, flower is Prima, and the chipboard button is Making Memories.

New card

I really thought I was going to get a lot done today. Not so. I started organizing ribbon and ended up only getting one card done.

At least this one meets a bunch of different challenges. I used the sketch at CPS and the recipe at Papertake Weekly. Several other sites all had challenges to make spring or Easter cards. It also meets this week's challenge at LM, to use ribbon and a journaling spot. It's an unusual size because I'm trying to use up a bunch of old Hallmark envelopes I've had laying around for years. Works perfectly with this K&Co mat pad stack. With the decorative edges, I haven't wanted to cut them down to use on regular sized cards.

Give Away

While doing the awesome blog hop for Triple the Sketch's anniversary, I saw this post for a great give away! http://lifeonelayoutatatime.blogspot.com/2009/04/another-giveaway-another-blog-hop.html It includes a bind it all, ca-ute apron, or handmade jewelry.

Unity Challenge

I don't often get a card made for the hip hop challenge on the Unity site at SCS. However, they have started posting the challenge the night before. With some extra time to think about what I want to do, I may get a few more of them finished.

This was somewhat of a challenge, since I don't have any Unity stamps that are , strictly speaking, baby stamps. But I do think the deer is adorable so I went with it.

Sunday, March 29, 2009

This is the Easter card I made for my mom and dad. I used a lot of older supplies so I'm not sure of manufacturer on all of it. Sentiment stamp is Papertrey Ink, image is PSX, eggs are American Craft, used Martha Stewart border punch and Nestabilities, stickles, Staz on ink, and colored with prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits.

Very cool!

I was going through my e-mail updates and found this

Saturday, March 28, 2009

Well, I've finally taken the plunge and started a blog. We'll see how well I do with it. Technology doesn't like me, as a rule.
